Racquet Club Road Estates Krisel For Sale – Palm Springs, CA

Just down the street from this morning’s feature sits an identical mid-century modern Krisel-designed Alexander home for sale. Same elevation, square-footage and layout as this morning’s post– 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms in 1,225 square feet with an asking price of $584,900. This 1959 home epitomizes what one imagines a Palm Springs retreat to be – huge private backyard, sparkling pool, lush green lawns and well-manicured privacy hedges.

The two-car carport has been converted to an enclosed garage, while a private entry courtyard has been created by the addition of two concrete screen block walls – featuring the ‘La Fiesta’ pattern from Orco Block. The courtyard welcomes visitors with specimen Madagascar Palms and an very appropriately chosen entry door.

Inside there’s plenty of fun features , starting with the sputnik light fixture above the entryway. Prevalent throughout are the vaulted beamed ceilings, 24” porcelain tiled floors, an updated kitchen that evokes the spirit of modernism, striking purple backsplashes and clean, simple composite counters.

The bathrooms, while not original, are clean-lined and simple, utilizing fun accents in each – green tiled floors in the master shower and a circular tile border in the hall bath. The laundry is open to the hall; however, the space is brought from utilitarian to fun with the purple-hued stacked washer and dryer (tying in nicely with the kitchen backsplash).

Walls of glass windows and sliding glass doors open out to the lush back yard, which features two separate covered patio areas, along with more decorative screen block tying the back together with the front. The swimming pool looks like it’s the original 15 x 30 Alexander special – only $3,525 extra in 1959 (which is just over $28,400 in 2015 dollars). This is a great home exemplifying some great details – hope it finds a new owner soon.
