Midland Park Estates Cul-de-sac Palmer & Krisel For Sale – Fullerton, CA

Built in 1955 in Midland Park Estates in Fullerton, CA is this Palmer & Krisel-designed home relatively new to the market. Expanded to 1,767 square feet, this home includes four bedrooms and two bathrooms, a two car detached garage and sits on a large 10,300 square-foot cul-de-sac lot and carries an asking price of $575,000.

Front of home

Garage and entry

The home sits behind a deep lawn and features a large sweeping driveway accented with red bricks. A handful of homeowner clutter fills the driveway, including the requisite outdoor couch. The front windows of the home have been swapped out with white vinyl replacements, and the narrow window band across the front of the home has seen one of its four windows enlarged to a non-conforming size.

The entry leads directly into the open dining room, which in turn opens up into the rear facing living room. The living room is anchored by Krisel’s signature stacked block modernist fireplace, which is mainly hidden from view due to furniture placement. The original open beamed ceilings are still present throughout the home, adding height and character to the living areas.

Kitchen

Breakfast nook addition and kitchen

The kitchen sits somewhat reconfigured from its original location along the front of the home, with the last updates taking place some point in the 1980s. White faced cabinets with wood accents and tile counters make up the room, and the appliances include one of each color – black, stainless and white. A family room and breakfast nook addition sits off the kitchen, and appears to have been constructed in a style that nicely mimics the rest of the home.

Guest bath

Master bedroom

All four bedrooms are located along the east side of the home, and only one bedroom is shown which appears to be rather full of personal items, but at least the original clerestories still appear to be intact. Both bathrooms have been updated over the years, with the exception of an original mint green bathtub remaining in one bathroom.

Back of home

Backyard and covered patio

Backyard

The backyard contains a large covered and screened patio which runs across the rear of the home and overlooks the yard. The majority of the yard is grassy and open, with trees and shrubs surrounding the perimeter of the yard.

If buyers can get past the clutter, there’s a pretty decent midcentury home on a large cul-de-sac lot that is move-in ready and a great candidate for a future renovation.

Midland Park Estates Palmer & Krisel For Sale – Fullerton, CA

Built in 1955 by Midland Properties is this Palmer & Krisel-designed home in Fullerton, CA relatively new to the market. With three bedrooms and two bathrooms in 1,253 square feet on a 9,000 square-foot corner lot, the asking price on this home is $600,000, a significant markup since it’s last sale in November 2015 for $491,000.

Only photos of the front of the home and the living area are shown, with no information provided on the bedrooms or baths. The home faces southeast on its corner lot, secluded from the roadway with a lush collection of mature trees, juniper groundcovers and flat green lawn giving the home a tranquil, serene setting. Like most Krisel-designed homes on corner lots, the garage is located in the backyard, accessing the adjacent side street, detached from the main home.

Inside, the home is a floorplan that was seen all over Southern California in the mid 1950’s. The kitchen sits on the west side of the home, with a dining room and guest bathroom lying at the front of the home between the kitchen and the entry. The dining room sits at the rear of the home along with the living room, and overlooks an enclosed addition in the backyard. All three bedrooms lie on the east side of the home, with the master at the front and secondary bedrooms at the rear.

Living and dining

Living room

The living, dining and kitchen have all been opened to each other to create a great room concept, which opens up a typically small space, but also eliminates privacy within living areas and has the ability to make them feel smaller. The open beamed wooden ceilings are still in place, as are the clerestories at both ends of the home, which allow for the diminutive space to feel larger and more open.

The kitchen has been updated with newer, white shaker-style cabinetry, stainless steel appliances and composite counters. Dark planks line the floors, and modern light fixtures hang from the ceilings. The living room still maintains its original modernist Krisel fireplace, with clean lines and stacked block.

There’s no photos of the backyard, but the detached two-car garage and backyard sunporch swallow up much of the available space. Mature trees and vines surround the rest of the backyard, and a small patch of grass sits near the western corner.

This home looks interesting, quiet and calm from the street, and if you don’t mind the open concept it’s worth a look.
