Paradise Palms Palmer & Krisel Home With Las Vegas History For Sale – Las Vegas, NV

Built in 1963 is this Palmer & Krisel-designed butterfly-roofed home rich with Vegas history for sale. Between 1976 and 1986 this home was owned by Vince Cardell, protégé to Liberace. Cardell released several albums, and often performed duets on stage with Liberace while dressed in matching outfits. Cardell was fictionalized as Billy Leatherman in the film ‘Behind the Candelabra,’ portrayed by actor Cheyenne Jackson. With three bedrooms and three bathrooms in 1,785 expanded square feet, a two-car garage and an in-ground pool \ on a 10,400 square-foot lot, the asking price on this piece of Vegas history is $195,000.

The home sits on a large east-facing corner lot with low-maintenance rock landscape along with mature palms. The original two-car carport has been converted to a two-car garage, and a small addition with arched windows sits at the front of the home.

Inside the property the kitchen sits just off the entry and has been opened to the rear-facing living and dining rooms. The living room is anchored by a signature Krisel modernist fireplace, sited low to the ground and adjacent to a wall of glass overlooking the west-facing back yard. The dining area sits adjacent to the living area and has had an entertainer’s wet bar with mirrored shelving added to it.

The laundry lies in its original location just off the kitchen and adjacent to the former service porch.

The front two bedrooms have been converted to a large master suite and expanded outwardly towards the front of the home while an added bathroom on the side of the home offers plenty of Vegas glitz. A rounded soaking tub surrounded by mirrors gives this bath the distinct appearance of being worth of any Liberace protégé. The remaining two secondary bedrooms are at the rear of the home are in their original configurations, overlooking the backyard. Of the two remaining secondary baths, one appears to need a bit of finishing work, but still contains its original Krisel sunken bathtub.

Out back, a large curvilinear swimming pool sits at the southwest corner of the yard, flanked by mature palms and dark red gravel. A small wood pergola sits off the living room shading a small red-brick patio. The rest of the backyard contains a few mature plantings, but is otherwise a blank slate for those looking to put their stamp on something.

This midcentury modern home is a perfect entertainer’s paradise, and a fantastic piece of Las Vegas history rife with potential and opportunity for one lucky buyer.
