Built in 1953 by the Devon Construction Company is this midcentury
Palmer & Krisel-designed home in the Parkwood Covina neighborhood in West
Covina, CA. With three bedrooms and two bathrooms in 2,338 expanded square feet
and a two-car garage on a 7,000 square-foot lot with an asking price of $498,000.
There are not many pictures of this early Palmer &
Krisel tract home, just one of the front, one of the back and two inside. The
exterior of this south-facing home features a lush, green lawn and a large mature
shade tree occupying the center of the yard. The exterior of the home has been
modified with stone accents, the original clerestory windows appear to still be
intact, and mature green shrubs line the entryway into the home.

Kitchen |
There are only two photos inside, one of the kitchen and one
of the entry. That’s it. We can tell that the kitchen has been updated with
granite countertops, raised panel cabinetry, and mosaic tile backsplashes.
Other than that, we know the home has been expanded towards the rear of the
property, and the former detached garage has been attached to the home.
Backyard |
The backyard is mainly occupied by the addition, but
includes a small trellised patio and a small grassy area. The price certainly
seems decent for the neighborhood, hopefully the lack of pictures doesn’t mean
that there are lots of surprises in this property.
