Located in iconic Corbin Palms in Woodland Hills, CA is this
1954 Palmer & Krisel-designed home built by the Alexander Construction
Company. With three bedrooms and two bathrooms in 1,592 expanded square feet, this
midcentury modern home sits on a 7,400 square-foot lot with a swimming pool and
two-car garage and carries an asking price of $549,000.

Front of home |
The exterior of the home maintains its classic Krisel-lines,
with a sweeping brick-lined driveway leading past a lush green lawn to the front door and
garage. The raised-panel leaded glass front door has been recently highlighted
with a pop of color, and the former service porch which would have sat between
the garage and front of home has been enclosed.

Inside, those with a sharp eye will note that this is the
same floorplan that was featured on Wednesday
in south Granada Hills, with the master bedroom and family room at the
front of the home, kitchen at the side, and living, dining and secondary
bedrooms at the rear. The home features a formal entry hall, with light wood
floors, and opens up into the rear-facing living room which overlooks the
backyard and swimming pool.

Skylights have been added to the open-beamed celotex
ceilings, bringing additional light into this north-facing room. The original
modernist stacked bright fireplace is still in its original form, untouched and
unpainted. A bookcase adjacent to the fireplace conceals a painted-over window which
once overlooked the pool. The original light-well soffit sits opposite the
fireplace, and adds dimension and depth to the room.

Laundry room addition |
The kitchen sits on the east side of the home, and still
features its above-cabinet clerestory windows. The cabinetry itself has been
updated with very appropriate, fitting and clean-lined cabinets which reflect
the midcentury modern lines of the home. One half of the kitchen provides tile
countertops, while the other is finished in laminate. Despite the texture
differences, they both seem to work in the space. The family room is accessed through the
kitchen, and adjacent to the family room is the laundry room which sits in the
enclosed service porch area providing access to the garage.

The master bedroom sits at the front southwest corner of the
home, overlooking the front driveway. The original west-facing clerestories are
still in place and appear to have a film over them to minimize bright sunlight
entering the room. Both secondary
bedrooms are at the rear of the home, and are efficient in size and layout.
Both the master and guest bath have been updated over the years, and feature
vanities and tilework from various decades.

Pool & patio at back of home |
Out back, a trellised patio cover sits off of the living and
dining rooms, and leads out to a large paver-ed patio space. Nearly all of the
backyard is covered in pavers, with the exception of a few planters and the
large, rectangular swimming pool. The paver are at least low-maintenance, and
offer plenty of flexible space for entertaining.
This appears to be a well-maintained Corbin Palms home,
which has great bones, nice original lines and gives owners the flexibility to
update previous updates while still keeping the integrity of the home intact.
