Freshly Flipped Palmer & Krisel in La Mirada For Sale – La Mirada, CA

Fresh off of a flip is this 1955 Palmer & Krisel-designed home in Parkwood La Mirada, La Mirada, California. Purchased back in July for $417,000, this home features four bedrooms, three bathrooms in 2,334 square feet with a detached two car garage on a 7,800 square-foot lot and a new asking price of $585,000.

The front of the home features fresh paint and exudes classic midcentury modern Palmer & Krisel design, with vertical banding on the garage face and a sweeping driveway leading to the front patio. A block wall enclosure has been built across the front of the home with breezeblock accents and a trellised cover, adding shade and protection from morning sun intruding into bedroom windows.

Entry

The front door sits at the center of the home and leads into the dark entry hall which has been covered in wainscoting, dark hardwood floors and illuminated with a  1940s-style school house light. The inside of this home definitely carries forward an east coast Cape Cod beach house-type atmosphere which is somewhat contradictory to the midcentury modern exterior and design roots of the home, but nonetheless the chosen style of the flipper.

Kitchen

Kitchen

The kitchen is just off of the entry at the front of the home and is open to the rear-facing living and dining rooms. The cabinetry has been updated, and stainless steel appliances with marble counters have been added, along with a handy large central island. Light sea foam green frosted subway tile has been added to the backsplashes helping to complete that beach house look.

Living

Dining

The living and dining rooms sit at the rear of the home, with a large master suite addition sitting off of the dining room.  The original living room modernist fireplace has been converted to a more traditionally appearing model, replete with fluted moulding and traditional mantle.

A large master bedroom addition sits off of the dining room, with its own fireplace, bathroom, kitchenette and access to the backyard. The original bedrooms are diminutive in size, as this home originally incorporated four bedrooms in approximately 1,200 square feet. The bathrooms have all been renovated in a clean, all-white theme, with fixtures and handles that match the east-coast beach house meets midcentury modern theme.

Backyard

Backyard

The backyard is mainly occupied by the rear addition, but incorporates a small patio and turf space. A small trellised cover sits over the mullioned-sliding doors to the addition, while the yard is completely devoid of shad trees. There’s only one tree on the entire property; a lone palm at the front of the home.

For those looking for a large, move-in ready home in La Mirada this one fits the bill. The east coast interior doesn’t quite reflect the mod lines of the midcentury modern exterior, but for a large home with a reasonable price per square foot, it will most likely sell swiftly.
