Today’s featured Palmer & Krisel home is a classic 1959
three bedroom, two bathroom house in Racquet Club Road Estates. Measuring in at
1,225 square feet, this home sits on a 9,500 square-foot lot with an in-ground
pool and above-ground hot tub.
The front of the home features creative use of cmu-block,
turned on its side and plastered over to create a decorative screen at the
entry courtyard. The entry courtyard features minimalistic plantings, offering
an opportunity to personalize or enjoy as is. Walking in through the frosted
glass front door, the home features soaring tongue and groove open-beamed
ceilings, while the interior is kept simple and bright, painted in
monochromatic white.
The entry, kitchen and baths are tiled while the remainder
of the home is carpeted. The kitchen opens to the dining and kitchen area and
is portioned off from the entryway with the original Krisel ¾ wall. The kitchen
features simple cabinetry, not necessarily the style of the home but functional
and light. The living area features the signature Krisel fireplace, with great
block detailing and thoughtful massing.
The three bedrooms show light and bright, all featuring the
original open-beamed ceilings and original window layout. The bathrooms have
been updated, featuring the same light cabinetry as found in the kitchen.
The great part of these homes is the private back yards, and
this one doesn’t disappoint. Out back there’s a large covered patio, which
follows the roofline of the home, and supported by classic mid-century ‘S’
columns. Hedges line the rear walls for a green privacy screen. The in-ground
pool wraps around the rear corner of the home, accented by mature palms and
agaves. The above-ground hot tub sits at the end of the pool on its own
concrete pad, and the remainder of the backyard is low-maintenance rock.
