For the second time this week there’s another Palmer &
Krisel-designed home in Parkwood La Mirada for sale. Built by the Devon
Construction Company, this expanded home includes four bedrooms and three
bathrooms in 2,041 square feet and a two car garage on a 9,100 square-foot lot
backing up to Neff Park with an asking price of $525,000.
The exterior of the home is relatively unchanged from its
original appearance with the exception of an added gable roofline enclosing the
service porch space between the home and formerly detached garage. Strong
vertical board and batten lines are on the exterior of the garage while a white
pvc fence encloses a small courtyard found off of the original master bedroom.

Dining room - check out that divider! |
The living, and dining sit at the rear of the home with the
kitchen at the front. The living room features Krisel’s signature walls of glass
overlooking the backyard, while the wood-paneled fireplace with stacked stone
accents anchors the end wall of the room. The dining room lies adjacent to the living
area, separated with a vintage wooden room divider.

Kitchen with original cabinetry |
The kitchen is open to the separate dining room, and still
retains all original unpainted cabinetry with original saucer pulls. The
countertops have been updated with butcher-block laminate, while the appliances
have been updated over time. Just beyond the kitchen lies the hallway and
passageway to the laundry room addition and garage.

Master bedroom |
The original master bedroom lies at the front of the home,
with its own bath and accesses the private front courtyard. The other two
bedrooms lie split from the original master at the side of the home, and have
had their original window configurations modified to taller, higher-sitting
windows. The new master suite addition is accessed off of the dining room, and
projects into the backyard area. The master suite features its own bath and
access to the backyard.

Backyard |
A small concrete patio sits off of the living and dining
rooms and accesses the master bedroom suite. The remainder of the backyard is
open and grassy, with two large shad trees adding greenery to the space.
For those looking for a solid retro-vintage midcentury
Palmer & Krisel home in La Mirada, be sure to check this one out.
